How Effective Is A Public Insurance Adjuster?

Public Insurance Adjusters are like any other tool. Some are more effective than others. Some are a better fit because of personality, and others are a better fit for your claim because of experience.

Public adjusters tend to have a “type” of claim that they prefer, or that they “specialize” in. Some claim to be “Large Loss” experts dealing only with large to very large commercial claims and others will claim to be “Fire”, “Roof”, “Water”, or even “Marine” specialists.

It is important to note this when doing your research on a public insurance adjuster that you are thinking about hiring. These areas of specialty will tell you much about how comfortable a particular public adjuster is with certain types of claims. You may not want to risk your claim outcome on a public insurance adjuster who has never worked roof claims before, for example.

The best way to figure out your potential public insurance adjuster’s comfort zone will be to ask questions. Yep, pretty simple. Just ask them about your claim. Ask them to describe their process and expected timeline. Ask them to explain how similar claims have worked out for other insureds. More than likely they will be honest with you, and you’ll get a good feel for their level of comfort with your type of claim.

As a Houston public adjuster we tend to deal with a large number of roof claims each year. We also deal with a good number of water and fire claims, although these are fewer and further between than roof claims. On top of that, we handle both commercial and residential claims. So, you can see that we would be very comfortable speaking with you on these types of claims, and the types of outcomes that we have experienced with past claims.

What we don’t handle, though is large equipment, trucks, marine or vehicles. Can we? Yes, but that is not our “wheelhouse” so to speak. So, you can also see that we would probably have a referral for your claim to someone we know handles those types of claims with a high level of proficiency.

Bascially, the effectiveness of your public adjuster, at least in the Houston, TX area, is going to have alot to do with how good they are at handling each type of claim. In order to figure this out, you’ll need to ask a few questions and let your possible new public insurance adjuster fill you in on how they handle each.

We have these conversations often, and we are always available to provide direction with your claim. Even if you don’t use us. We realize not everyone is a “perfect” fit, and we work to provide clear answers with direction when needed or asked. Sometimes that’s all we can do, and if it helps you with your claim, that’s exactly what we are here for.

Whether you need residential claim help or commercial, we will work to provide the best outcome possible for your claim.
