How To Deal With An Underpaid Or Lowball Offer From Your Insurance Company

Unfortunately thousands of claims are underpaid every day by insurance companies. Most homeowners & building owners don’t really know where to go from there once that happens. The good news is a reliable Public Insurance Adjuster can usually make a huge difference in the outcome of your claim.

Many times per year insureds try to assess and report their damages themselves. Insurance companies know that you probably aren’t familiar with construction, repair processes and other items necessary to return yourself to a pre-loss condition. Unfortunately, they also know that they can take advantage of this when the opportunity arises.

Often a contractor may offer to assist with the claims process. While this could be a different subject altogether, what happens when the insurance company lowballs your contractor too? Contractors are limited with what they can and can’t do when it comes to insurance claims in most states. Insurance companies also know this, and they will definitely use it to their advantage if they can.

Each year we often handle claims that were severely underpaid or improperly denied and closed by insurance companies who thought the homeowner wouldn’t seek professional claims assistance.

Many people don’t realize it is possible to re-open an insurance claim after the insurance company has told them it’s “closed”. In Texas, and the Houston area we routinely have claims re-opened for further work to increase the payouts. This is possible because Texas allows up to 2 years to do so.

When was the last time you heard an insurance company say, “Don’t worry, you have 2 years to update your claim so we can update the estimate any time you need it”?

So, if you have a claim that you filed several months ago, and you think that claim was “lowballed” or “underpaid”, let us know. We’re always happy to review everything to see if we can help increase the payout if it was lowballed or underpaid!

Reach out to us if you have had a claim that you think was “Lowballed” or “Underpaid”…. We can probably help!
