Is A Public Insurance Adjuster Worth It?

Not every claim will need a public insurance adjuster. In fact, there is a good chance that “most” claims will not need one. Knowing when to engage a public insurance adjuster (PIA) and when not to engage one is truly the “trick”, so to speak.

Each claim is different from the next. There are differences in cause, damage, type of damage and of course coverage, or what “is” covered under each. Engaging an experienced Houston public insurance adjuster to help you know the answer and the differences between each of these can be priceless sometimes when it comes to your claim.

An experienced public insurance adjuster should be able to provide direction, answers and assist you via consultation at any stage of your claim.

Since many public insurance adjusters were previously adjusters for the insurance companies, they are usually very familiar with claim processes and what is expected during the claims process. This information is available on request almost all of the time. All you have to do is ask, and I am sure your public insurance adjuster will bore you to death with a lengthy explanation to your question. 😉

Public insurance adjusters can definitely be worth it when you have an insurance claim that has been denied or partially denied based on some obscure detail in your insurance policy that you have never seen before.

Homeowners who submitted claims on their own received an average $2,029 vs. an average of $17,187 when represented by a public adjuster. Using a public adjusting service, homeowners saw an average increase of 747% in their homeowners’ insurance payout.

2010 OPPAGA Report

It can be worth the cost to hire a public insurance adjuster when your insurance claim has been approved, but is moderately to severely underpaid by your insurance company for some reason that just doesn’t make sense to you or your restoration contractor.

Research shows that when a public insurance adjuster is engaged the payout on an insurance claim can increase by as much as 70%. That’s almost twice as much money paid out for the same claim after a public insurance adjuster is engaged.

Some people have seen payouts increase 3-700% after engaging a public insurance adjuster to assist with their claim. That 3 to 7 times as much money paid for the same exact claim after a public insurance adjuster was hired to engage the insurance company and address the claim. That’s HUGE!
